Strawberry (Short)cake, Blueberry "Pie"

My version of Strawberry "Short"cake, Blueberry "Pie"...

There was a period of time when DY kept humming this, so I thought I might as well bake him this combo for Valentine's Day. Haha. And I came up with this cute (or childish?) set... *grinz*

Strawberry (Short)Cake

This is actually a Strawberry Cake. Shortcake is more biscuit-like, and since I was making blueberry tart too, I thought cake might pair better. And why are the two whole strawberries sitting at the side of the cake??? Well, they are meant to be go on TOP of the cake, but the plastic box I used for putting the cake was not tall enough. I couldn't cover the lid if I put the strawberries on top, so I gotta put them by the side instead. Cute huh? But looks kinda weird hor?... hahaha!!!

Blueberry "Pie"

Okay. This is blueberry tart to be exact. I prefer the one with weaving on top. Looks more pro right? The other one... DY described it as "anyhow"... oh well.. he's kinda right. It was really done anyhow. *oops*

And my special packaging...

The blueberry tarts were being placed in a box which is actually meant for packing onigiri. The plastic box I used for the Strawberry Cake was kinda plain, so I tried to "beautify" it with ribbon. Haha! Do they look like some 爱心便当 (literally translated as "love bento")？

Anyway, no matter how weird or cute this combo appeared, they tasted good!. I liked it! I was satisfied with how they tasted and was really contented to receive positive feedback from DY. Well, since these are made specially for him, what's most important is that they satisfy his palate. =)
